Inlays, veneers or partial crowns made from full ceramic are the pièce de la résistance of aesthetic dentistry. By using full ceramic, we can virtually restore decayed, chipped or broken tooth enamel. These small dental technical objects are transparent to light, and their colour and surface structure are adapted by our dental technicians to the natural dental material. Teeth treated in this manner, whether inlay, veneer or partial crown work has been performed, appear whole and unscathed – which is of especial advantage when carrying out restoration work on front teeth.
Modern computer technology means that we can manufacture ceramic repair pieces (inlays, half-crowns, crowns and veneers) in just one session. We thus spare our patients the need for making dental casts, temporary dental crowns, a second appointment and being anaesthetized once again. In addition, the costs of this technique are much lower. Since CEREC ceramic is a natural substance, it is tolerated by the body, has the same colour as natural teeth, is completely stain-resistant and is extremely resistant to heat.
Since the CEREC method was developed at the Dental Institute of the University of Zurich in 1985, it has conclusively proven its worth in dentistry. In the meantime, various studies have shown that CEREC restoration work has the same lifespan as work performed with gold, as long as the method is carefully applied.
