When gums recede either locally or generally, this leads to the unsightly emergence of the tooth cervix or can even cause pain. In such cases it is possible to carry out a localized operation to “push” the gums back into place. In more severe cases, we can transplant gum from the palate to cover the exposed tooth cervix.
If too much gum tissue is visible when you talk or laugh, we can remodel the gum with laser treatment. This leads to a correction of the proportion of whiteness (of the teeth) visible in relation to the redness (of the gums) and results in more endearing laughter.
